Grow Bear Pictures
Aiden's Grow Bear has become "Teddy." He sleeps with Aiden for naps and at bed time. They're best buds!
Aiden's biggest development in the past couple of months has been pretending. It all started when I was emptying the dishwasher one day. After I had emptied the silverware basket, he took it and went "grocery shopping." We were walking from room to room filling it with apples and bananas and veggies. Then, all of a sudden, Aiden said, "Surprise! I got you a monkey!" and we continued to surprise each other with monkeys for about a half hour, which led to more shopping because we had to feed them bananas. I did not give him the ideas for any of this. He came up with it all on his own!
From then on, we have been doing A LOT of pretending at our house. Quite often Aiden has a baby dinosaur in his hand. He will show us and say, "He's tiny! He's tute (cute)!" Sometimes there is a "HUGE dinosaur" standing next to him as well.
Aiden loves to march while saying, "Hup, fee, four!" He also loves to be an airplane and "fly" around the house making airplane noises. He also really likes to get Dixie cups for each of us so that we can have "coffee." It's usually hot, so we have to blow on it and then we clink our cups together and say, "Cheers!"Aiden also like to sip "juice" out of the arms of his sunglasses and is usually sweet enough to give us as sip too!
Aiden is absolutely enamored with animals. His favorite book by far right now is entitled Africa. Although it's not meant to be a kid's book, it has some great pictures of African animals. When he's done looking at it, or any book for that matter, he shuts it and says, "Beeee end!" Aiden also loves the app on my phone called Pocket Zoo. It has tons of different animals as well as the noises they make and videos of them. Thanks to this app, Aiden can tell you the difference between the sound a baboon makes and the sound an orangutan makes. He can also identify a tapir and the sound it makes (I had no idea this animal even existed before this app)! He also knows the animals who don't really make sounds, like a giraffe. He will just say, "Giraffe quiet." We still go into dark rooms quite often to "yisten" for animals. He will say, "Hear a cow" or whichever animal he chooses and we have to make the noise. The we switch rolls and he makes the noises.
Aiden is doing a great job of sleeping in his toddler bed. Our nightly routine is a bath, brushing teeth, kisses for daddy, and then I lay down with him for a bit. He puts one arm around his teddy bear and the other around my neck and plays with my hair. After about 5 minutes, he gives me a kiss and says, "Night night, mama. Love you! Sweet dreams, mama!" So sweet! He sleeps about 10 hours a night and comes into our room when he wakes up saying, "Dood morning, mama! Dood morning, dada! Dood morning!" Thank goodness he's so stinking sweet or I wouldn't be nearly as happy to be woken up at 6am every day! Aiden also loves playing "night night." Any guest we have is promptly led to his room where they must pretend to go night night with him.
Aiden is definitely starting to assert his independence. "Aiden do it" and "Mommy, I don't want to!" are regulars in our conversations.
His favorite show by far is Yo Gabba Gabba, or "Yo Dabba Dabba" as he calls it. He absolutely loves it! Because of it, he has started beat boxing and saying, "Awesome!" I love it!
It has been an amazing two years! Aiden is the sweetest, snuggliest little guy I know. He already has such a big heart. We just love him to pieces!
